Background: why food businesses hire with Facebook ads

Food courts, restaurants and stalls often need several roles at once: servers, kitchen helpers and stall assistants. Putting up a notice or waiting for referrals is slow, and most of the people who would apply are on Facebook every day.

So the goal of this ad was simple: get interested people nearby to message about the job. In Ads Manager the campaign is optimised for “messaging conversations started”, so an applicant can start chatting with one tap.

The creative: a hiring poster with all the details

The poster was prepared by the client in Chinese and Malay, and it answers what job seekers want to know in one go: the roles (stall assistant, server, kitchen helper), full-time or part-time, the age range, a salary of RM1,700–2,000, and benefits such as a monthly salary advance, a year-end bonus, EPF and SOCSO, and meals provided.

How to read these numbers

Hiring ads often cost less per conversation than sales ads, because people who see a suitable job are happy to ask. Over these two days it averaged about RM1.37 per conversation: 28 people asked for less than RM40.

On the second day, though, impressions went up while conversations went down, and the cost per conversation rose from about RM1.01 to about RM1.86. That is normal. The most interested people nearby usually respond first; after that, the ad needs fresh creative or a tweaked audience to reach a new group.

To be clear, a message is not the same as an interview or a new hire. Whether the person fits, and whether pay and shifts work out, still depends on the owner’s screening and follow-up. We do not guarantee how many people you will hire.

What YF ADS can do for you

Hiring ads look simple, but the daily adjustments are what matter:

  1. Creative: spell out the role, pay, shifts and benefits; when useful, prepare Chinese, Malay or different-photo versions and see which gets more replies.
  2. Audience: keep the area within commuting distance so the budget isn’t spent on people too far away to work for you.
  3. Campaign settings: optimise for messaging conversations and control the daily budget; pause once you have enough applicants and restart when needed.
  4. Retargeting: remind people who viewed or engaged with the ad but haven’t messaged yet, so those still thinking see it again.
  5. Daily feedback: every day we tell you what was spent, how many conversations came in, whether cost is rising and whether it’s time to change the creative.

To be honest: we do not guarantee the number of applicants or hires, and we do not make up conversion rates. Ads get the right people to see the job and ask; interviewing, screening and hiring are still your call.
